Jolene & ZhiKai decided to do their prewedding session in Kyoto, Japan as it was one of their (and mine!) favourite destinations. We spent two days together, wandering around the streets of Kyoto. It was during that time that I got to really know both of them and the little nuances that made them, well.. them. Though we missed most of the blooming of the cherry blossoms, we managed to capture abit of spring in Japan.
Thank you both for having me – it was truly a pleasure! Really loved being able to freely capture as and when we liked 🙂
Our first stop was the famous Arabica coffee stand in Arashiyama, Kyoto. A warm cup of freshly brewed coffee in the cool Spring morning really hit the spot for us!
We walked around Arashiyama, and found a charming quiet spot. That is typically how it is like in our overseas prewedding shoots! We tend to wander around – finding little spots that are just perfect for us.
One of my favourite spot in the area! It feels so quintessentially Japan.
Would you believe this was just a space behind the many shopping lanes? The light was beautiful and soft, and the space was quiet for us to sit and chat and capture some images at the same time!
Day 2! On our way to the Kimono shop, we chanced upon this street that is so pretty.
One tip is to go very early to touristy spots – that’s when we can capture the place almost empty!
Love their Spring kimonos <3
This spot came highly recommended by a taxi driver who saw our get-up and drove us to this area! It was really pretty, albeit crowded with tourists.
We then wandered into one of the smaller alleys to escape the crowd..
Can’t get enough of the soft spring light in Japan!
As the sun was setting on day 2, our prewedding session in Kyoto came to an end. I loved being able to take the time to chill and hang out, becoming friends in the process.
